Who is successful ?

He indeed shall be successful who purifies himself,
And magnifies the name of his Lord and prays.
Nay! you prefer the life of this world,
While the hereafter is better and more lasting. (Qur'an Ch. 87- Verses 14-17)

Tazkiya comes from the word Zakah which means to purify,we give Zakat on Wealth to purify it similarly the purification of self means to analyze our Aqaid, our deeds, our life style in the shadow of Qur'an and Sunnah and if we find something in life is opposed to it we should change it sooner than later as the verse 17 says about it that You prefer this world to the hereafter(which is everlasting) if we love more of this World the more lazy we will be in the purification and if we love more the hereafter(Akhirah) we will be more active and faster to achieve this Tazkiya....Lets ponder more on these verses and check ourselves.

Reality of this world

Know that the life of this world is only play and amusement, pomp and mutual boasting among you, and rivalry in respect of wealth and children, as the likeness of vegetation after rain, thereof the growth is pleasing to the tiller; afterwards it dries up and you see it turning yellow; then it becomes straw. But in the Hereafter (there is) a severe torment (for the disbelievers, evil-doers), and (there is) Forgiveness from Allah and (His) Good Pleasure (for the believers, good-doers), whereas the life of this world is only a deceiving enjoyment“. Mercy of Allah

Narrated Abu Huraira (Radi-Allahu 'anhu):

I heard Allah's Apostle (Sallallahu 'Alaihi Wa Sallam) saying, Verily Allah created Mercy. The day He created it, He made it into one hundred parts. He withheld with Him ninety-nine parts, and sent its one part to all His creatures. Had the non-believer known of all the Mercy which is in the Hands of Allah, he would not lose hope of entering Paradise, and had the believer known of all the punishment which is present with Allah, he would not consider himself safe from the Hell-Fire."
